Teaching algorithms

I have been working on a spelling and algebra learning tool (see https://codeberg.org/csirmaz/learning-aid) and have been observing how these tools are used and how to improve the learning strategies. I have come up with the following guidelines for how a teaching tool should work:
- Learning modules should focus on a limited number of items, e.g. the 2-times table, 3-times table, and so on. Choosing a random item from the full set is not effective.
- These tools use no negative feedback (e.g. wrong, etc.) but there can be subtle penalites for certain actions, e.g. time delay for accessing help, asking an item again if the answer is wrong, no points awarded for revision questions.
- An item (word, multiplication pair) should be repeated about 3 times during one session to be learnt.
- Immediate repetition of a question with wrong answer, even if the answer is shown (but forcing production like typing) seems useful.
